Were you nervous when you went for your first pap smear? How old were you when you got it done?

i get my first one tomorrow and i am scared- but i think its important even though i am 21 and never been sexually active!

also i read its good that i dont smoke or drink or do drugs- or anything like that! but yeah its scary to get one!

im not a virgin and the **** hurts not when they spread it open cuz that doesnt hurt at all the only thing that hurts is when they get the swab and stick it in your v****a canel and when they scrape skin cells its painful for one sec. thats it! but besides that it'll be quick and fast and its very healthy your finally getting one i got mky first one when i was 16 and the first time was quick and easy ITS JUS MOSTLY UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE A DOCTOR IS LOOKING AT YOUR v****a BUT YOU'LL BE FINE SWEETIE! it wont hurt bad at all ! PROMISE !!!

but i wish you the best of luck JUS MEMBA TO BE CALM AND RELAXED MAKES THE PROCEDURE MORE EASIER FOR THE DOCTER BECAUSE IF YOU TENSE UP IT HURTS IF YOUR RELAXED ITS SIMPLE AND QUICK! AND they also give you a breast exam which is simple!

I was extremely nervous when I got my first pap smear.  I am 20 and got it a few months ago.  It is very important even if you are not sexually active.  For the first appointment, at the doctor I go to, they do a breast exam as well; it is part of a "well woman's check up".  It was nothing to be worried about.  I was more embarrassed then anything.  Just remember, gynecologists see these things every day.  Don't worry...it will be fine!

If you have had a gynecological exam in the past, this is really no different.  You don't really feel anything- at the most a feeling similar to touching your fingernail.  There is nothing scary about the test at all.

Now, if you have never experienced a gynecological exam in the past, it's easy to see how you would be nervous.  I had my first at 18, and was sexually active with my now husband at the time.  Even then, it was more embarrassing than anything.  Having complete strangers examine you and place instruments in your "personal space" is wierd for the first time.  There may be feelings of pressure, but no real pain.

I was 21 and was not sexually active at the time. Don't be nervous, its no big deal. The whole thing takes 5 minutes at the most. Good luck!

I was 20 don't be scared you need to relax its over before you know it every one gets nervous the first time i have been getting them for years

19 very nervous. They used to big of prongs so they had to use smaller ones.
