  2. They were one area where the taxpayers overwhelmingly approved of government spending. The cold war had everyone afraid of the Soviet Union and Radio Free Europe broadcast the truth (or at least the western world's better version of the truth) to the millions of people stuck behind "The Iron Curtain".

    Anyway, the U.S. government for one ran many commercials to show Americans that their tax dollars were going for something worthwhile. Of course, that program was a pitifully small percentage of an astronomical federal budget ... and it just keeps getting worse. The Democrats spend, spend, spend and so do the Republicans. The money just ends out in  different peoples' pockets.

  3. yes it was how the show delivered propaganda to communist countrys to the people to let them know their were free people on the outside that knew about their plight and was doing all they could peacefully to try to help eliminate the slavery of communism to set them free......................
