great......their dreaming of future cars, when they've failed to deliver what they dreamed of 50 years ago.

  1. yes & we were going to charge the batterys with cheap electricity made in fast breeder nuclear power plants that had a doubleing time of 10 years(you start with 100 lbs of fuel, after producing electricity for 10 years you have 200 lbs of fuel)  but the environmental movement started sueing anyone who thought about nuclear plants into bankruptcy & jimmy carter outlawed fast breeder reactors( you dont suppose the oil co.s had anything to do with that?) so here we are 50 years later stuck with lawyers & politicans designing our cars instead of engineers.

I've got admit the air & rivers are much cleaner than they were 50 years ago. I never thought I'd live to see citys without that dome of brown smog over them, or major rivers with fish in them. back then it wasnt uncommon for some rivers to catch fire & burn for days.

  2. We will see gas cars for another 100 year's

Think about military vehicles and all the car's on the road ( billions and billions) so yeah have fun trying plus most EV's get electricity from a powerplant tht burns fossil fuels.

  3. NO, we were suppose to have flying cars!!!!!

  4. Electric cars will not become wide spread until they can match the performance and price of conventionally fueled vehicles.  No such EV is available today and none are likely to be in the foreseeable future.  Thus, EVs are not likely to be anything but expensive toys.

  5. They delivered and then they were crushed - see film who killed the electric car, http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com

the first car to exceed 100kph was electric. http://www.speedace.info

The technology exisits to provide quiet, smooth, smell free high performance, refuel at home or work vehicles that can drive 200 miles and recharge in 10 minutes http://www.phoenixmotorcars.com

but the global corps won't sell them and the cost of entry into the car market is so prohibitive no new businesses are going to get into mass production anytime soon

  6. I believe Electric cars are a waste of time. They are heavy, short ranged, take to long to charge, and expensive. They also just transfer most of the pollution to another location.

  7. they do exist

Tom hanks has two. I saw it on a video on his myspace.

they run 100 miles per charge. they are charged with a plug and you connect them to the wall like anything else.

I don't know why we don't have them...maybe too expensive

  8. I don't know if we were 'supposed to', but EVs are on their way.  There are already some available, like the (expensive) Tesla Roadster and several short-range low-speed EVs, the best of which is the ZAP Xebra.

Several affordable long-range high-speed EVs will begin to become available starting in about a year.

Available in California in October 2008, the Aptera typ-1e will cost about $27,000 with a top speed of 95 mph and range of 120 miles per charge.

Soon thereafter Aptera will introduce the typ-1h, a plug-in hybrid version of the typ-1e with a 40-60 mile range on purely electrical energy, and a range of over 600 miles total when in electric/gas hybrid mode, for around $30,000.  On a 120 mile trip, the typ-1h will get 300 miles per gallon.  The shorter the trip, the higher the efficiency.

Available in late 2008 or early 2009, the ZAP Alias will cost $30,000, have a top speed of 100 mph, and a range of 100 miles per charge.

Soon thereafter the ZAP-X will be available at a cost of $60,000 with a top speed of 155 mph and a range of 350 miles per charge.

Available in late 2008 or early 2009, the Miles Javlon will cost $30,000 with a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 120 miles per charge.

Phoenix Motorcars will start selling their SUT to individuals in late 2008 or early 2009.  It will cost $45,000 and have a top speed of 100 mph with a range of 100+ miles per charge.

  9. Whenever they say that a technology is 10 years away it means that it cannot be done. We were supposed to have solar, fuel cells, electric cars, cold fusion, particle accelerators and cars that run on water etc.

  10. We were supposed to have broken free of foreign oil in 1975.
