Derbyshire bounced back strongly in a match of the County Championship Division Two against Middlesex, at the County Ground, Derby in England. The hosts finished day-two of the four-day match at 193 for the loss of three wickets, gaining an overall second
innings lead of 117 runs.
Earlier, Derbyshire were bowled out for 154 in their first innings after their captain, Luke Sutton, elected to bat first. None of the batsmen were able to post a challenge to the Middlesex bowlers and most of them got out after getting starts.
The top score of the innings came from the lower-order batsman, Ross Whiteley, who scored 28 runs, with the help of three fours and one six. The only other batsman to score in twenties was the opener, Wes Durston, scoring 20 runs in his innings.
Gareth Berg had phenomenal figures of four for 18 in the 13 overs he bowled. He got good support from Tim Murtagh, who dismissed three batsmen in the Derbyshire’s innings.
In reply to the first innings total of the hosts, Middlesex scored 230 runs before getting all-out. They gained an overall first innings lead of 76 runs, which seemed very good at that stage.

good touch. He missed-out on a half-century by just two runs, but did a superb job for his team.

Durston was unlucky to be dismissed just four short of what would have been a spectacular century. He smashed 16 fours and one massive six in his brilliant knock of 96 runs. Khawaja also followed soon after and the hosts were in trouble at 163 for three.
The stylish left-hander managed 46 runs in his steady knock.
