Is he ever covered during games cause ive read that he catches open balls and is rarely covered which is one of the reasons he had a season like he did casue all they need to do is stop Moss because all Welker can do is slowly move the chains

  1. Nah, nah, not true.

The Patriots ran a spread offense that often leaves one player open and uncovered; Welker's abilities to get open are why he was open, not because no one tried to cover him.  The team would match him up against a linebacker who couldn't cover him; its not that no one tried to cover him, its just that the Patriots did a better job of lining him up against someone he could get open against.

Welker could probably easily be a top receiver in the league, something like Laveranues Coles or Steve Smith, but in last year's offense, the Patriots used him in a different role.  This year, with Donte Stallworth gone, Welker may have to play less of a slot-receiver role and more of a flanker role.

But as far as what you've read, its not really true.  That's not all he can do, its just all he was asked to do.  And lets admit it, he did it well.

  2. Well, from the way you are putting it you seem like a hater. But I do kinda agree with you on this one.

He was actually covered (what idiot would constantly leave a dude who keeps catching passes open on purpose), but he was usually too quick for the third corner. He also has the ability to find the soft spot on the zone which is why is why he caught so many passes. He will probably have less catches this season because he will be matched up with a starting CB this season though.......

  3. He is covered. It just seems like he is running free out there, and that is because of two things. One, if you play man on the guy he'll run right by your defender. Two, if you play zone, he'll find space in your defense and Brady will get the ball to him.

  4. Moving the chains is what he is supposed to do that is the major flaw in fantasy football it is allabout scores and not about set ups

  5. They put him in the slot a lot of the time and have linebackers and nickelbacks on him.  They used Donte' Stallworth and Randy Moss to draw the coverage over the the edges and hit the middle with Wes Welker in the slot...I think they'll use him the same way this year but defenses will wise up and try to put on of their top corners on him and split out a guy who's like a nickelback...

  6. He is a very  good route runner and very quick.  Which makes him virtually impossible for linebackers and free safeties to cover one on one.  And he is very intelligent so he can find gaps in the zone. Which makes if hard to cover in zone coverage.  It would take you bringing down a physical corner to stick with him and even he would have problems.

  7. IS THAT A QUESTION....NO

d**n you are a hater i dont even really like NE but i reconize skill and if you understood football outside of a fans point of veiw you would know is flanker type of position is set up  for him to not be cover or have mismatchs in his advantage thats why he is always in motion
