The Dutch international has hinted that he may reunite with manager Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. The Portuguese tactician has taken over the managerial post at the London club earlier this week and there is a chance that he may make a move for some of the players
he has earlier managed.
Mourinho and Sneijder were at Inter Milan in 2009 when the tactician led the Italian giants to a historic treble comprising of the Serie A, UEFA Champions League and Coppa Italia. There has been widespread speculation that Chelsea are after the Galatasaray
midfielder as they need to bolster attacking options.
Sneijder claimed that he has a brilliant relationship with Mourinho and is in contact with the manager on a regular basis. The player added that he is currently happy in Turkey but anything can happen in football.
“I have a great relationship with Jose Mourinho. We have kept in contact since our days at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
The former Real Madrid attacker is satisfied with his performance for the Turkish giants in the previous season. The midfielder added that reaching the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League was a great achievement.
The Dutch international also hailed the fans and admitted that the support in the second-leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid was amazing. He admitted that the team could have progressed if the display was better in the first-leg.
“Reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League was our target and we reached it. The first leg against Real Madrid was disappointing, had we played better we could have progressed. The home leg with the twelfth man behind us was amazing,” he concluded.
Wesley Sneijder has been impressive this far for Galatasaray. The midfielder scored four times and accumulated an assist in the 16 games he took part in and was one of the Turkish side’s top performers in the UEFA Champions League campaign last season.
