The Inter Milan legend believes it’s time for the Dutchman to play his best game in order to earn a move to another top club; believes Nerazzurri will beat Marseille.
The former Beneamata player insists that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799 must show his magic in the upcoming second-leg of the UEFA Champions League round-of-16 tie with Olympique Marseille in order to prove that he is still a great player.
Mazzola insists that the match is a golden opportunity for the Dutchman to earn his place at one of the top clubs in the world ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Nerazzurri have been in poor run of form of late, and the recent victory over Chievo Verona ended their nine-game winless streak. The Dutch playmaker has failed to reach the heights of 2010, when he was a vital contributor
in the club’s historic treble-winning season.
While talking to Goal.com, Mazzola said:
"Sneijder will be back to his very best soon. He knows he must prove he still has what it takes at the highest levels, otherwise those clubs interested in him will not buy him, especially when it comes to what he earns."
Sneijder’s poor form can prove to be a trouble for Claudio Ranieri, who is expected to lose his coaching position at San Siro if Inter fail to go through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. However, the former striker
believes that Ranieri is the right man to take the club back to former glory.
"He is doing a good http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 in the right direction."
Mazzola believes that Inter can overcome the one-goal deficit from the first-leg against the French giants. He insisted that the Beneamata have the talent in their side to perform in the crucial games.
"I think Inter can beat Marseille tonight. They have the players with the quality and plenty of Champions League experience to be able to get the result they need.” the veteran added.
Inter Milan need to overcome a 1-0 aggregate deficit to advance to the quarter-finals of UEFA Champions League.
The Italian side will host the Phoceens at San Siro on Tuesday, March 13th.
