Wesley Sneijder to sign a new deal with Inter Milan
Inter Milan’s president, Massimo Moratti, has claimed that the Dutchman, Wesley Sneijder, would commit himself to the club for a longer period. Morrati has been making a lot of claims in recent weeks, including the one about signing Lionel Messi, but this
time he looks serious. He is bent upon making Inter a force in Europe, which is why staying of Sneijder is very important for the club.
Wesley Sneijder was a part of the Dutch team that were runners-up in the World Cup in South Africa. But, he was not a small part of his squad, as he was the one responsible for taking his country to the finals in South Africa. In this course, Sneijder scored
five goals for Netherlands, which was the highest score in the entire tournament. The brilliant playmaker showed his extra-ordinary qualities, establishing himself as one of the best in the World.
This incredible success was preceded by a wonderful year at Inter Milan. Sneijder won a treble with his team, including the Serie A title and the Champions League. In this course, Inter Milan overtook the Spanish giants, Barcelona, which was a big achievement
for the Italian team. Although, Sneijder was not as successful as he should have been, but he came up with 3 goals and 6 assists for his team in the Champions League.
Nevertheless, the real turning point was the World Cup, which established the Dutchman as one of the best playmakers of European football. Although, he had ups and downs in his career in the past when he was removed from Real Madrid along with other Dutch
players, but after the feats in South Africa, he became one of the most wanted players in Europe. However, Inter Milan retained their quality playmaker, despite of the fact that Jose Mourinho had already left Italy.
In order to ensure his services for the future, Inter Milan offered Sneijder a new contract. However, the Dutchman did not agree to the terms of his contract, due to some undisclosed reasons. Now, Moratti has ensured his fans that Sneijder would definitely
sign a new contract with the club, showing his commitment for the future. The timeline has not been defined, but it would happen within two weeks. Currently, Sneijder has two years left on his current contract, which would expire in 2012.
There are many clubs interested in hiring the services of Wesley Sneijder, while Manchester United is on top of that list. United is supposedly getting a huge boost from the Glazers family, for the winter transfer window. This money is allegedly being paid
to Ferguson, in order to persuade Wayne Rooney in staying at the club. Therefore, United is currently surveying the market, looking for available options and making some inquiries. An inquiry about Sneijder is also part of the plan that would be accomplished
in January.
Considering the money being thrown towards players, as Manchester City is paying huge sums to their players while Manchester United has done the same to lure Rooney, Sneijder’s problem seems to be the same. With the success Inter Milan is having in Italy,
as well as in Europe, everyone would love to remain at the club. However, if a more lucrative offer comes, no one would stop to even think for a while, as money matters a lot to many players. Maybe, Sneijder is also trying to get a better deal out of Inter
Milan, by first refusing to sign a deal with them.
In short, there is no doubt that Inter would be able to retain their star playmaker, as he matters a lot to his team. However, it is yet to be determined that how much would it cost them in order to retain Sneijder’s services. After all, he is a person in-form
and backed by a lot of success in the past year, which makes him more deserving than anyone, especially Rooney.
