Andrea Stramaccioni has reflected on the famous victory in the Milan derby, and insists that the role of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan’s triumph in the game.
The Nerazzurri beat the Rossoneri 4-2 in their last match against the city rivals, and the victory has become highlight of the career for the young coach.
The Primavera tactician replaced Claudio Ranieri at the helm of the Milan outfit as a caretaker manager, but the crucial win against the Diavolo has earned him a permanent place at the senior side.
Stramaccioni expressed his belief that a strong defence starts with a strong offence, and stated that due to this reason, Wesley Sneijder was important in the match against AC Milan.
The Nerazzurri manager stated that the Dutch national not only allowed them to push hard in the attack, but also came back deep to help them in the defence. The tactician stated that he has always believed that both the phases
of the game are very important, and insisted that it was the veteran midfielder who allowed the team to perform well in both the attack and the defence.
While talking to the press, the 36-year-old said:
“I always say either we push up to go get them or we stay really deep, so Wes can decide perfectly which is the best approach at any time. He did both phases very well in the derby and the team followed him.”
Stramaccioni stated that he always likes to send another player near the flag, as it draws a man from the opposition’s penalty area defence.
When asked about Douglas Maicon’s screamer against AC Milan, the Nerazzurri boss assured that it was not by chance.
The Beneamata tactician stated that they practiced the goal over and over before the game, but the shot kept hitting the woodwork. The former Primavera coach stated that it is very satisfying for a manager when a goal like that
is scored in the match.
“I’m happy to talk about that goal, as it is the most satisfying thing for a Coach. We practiced it to death in training and Maic always hit the bar, but he said: ‘Don’t worry, the goal is bigger at San Siro...’” He added.
