West A wins gold medal in Men’s 200m freestyle relay in Michigan: 2011 Pro Dual Meet
The squad of West A surpassed their opponents during the second evening of the 2011 Pro Dual Meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Thursday, November 17. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 200m freestyle relay final, where West A swimmers claimed golden
crown for their swimming club.
The team of West A involving George Bovell, Alex Coville, Christopher Brady and Darian Townsend were in a clash with their strongest rivals of the puddle including East A, West B and East B for the final encounter. More importantly, each athlete of West
A produced versatile turns in the pool and banged the finishing divider in an impressive time of 1 minute and 29.74 seconds to seal the Men’s 200m freestyle relay title.
Meanwhile, East A’s challengers including Jason Dunford, David Dunford, Nick Brunelli and Bobby Savulich of East A claimed silver medal in the respective race by striking the finishing blockade in a victorious blot of 1 minute and 29.83 seconds. On the other
side, the performances of West B athletes incorporating Richard Hortness, Bryan Lundquist, Joe Bartoch and Alex Hetland were not forgetful, as they earned bronze medal in the respective splash by thumping the finishing hurdle in a mark of 1 minute and 32.53
seconds.
Last, but not the least, the fourth place honours went to East B swimming club in a spot of 1 minute and 33.19 seconds. The swimming squad of East B comprised of Barry Murphy, Ian Hulme, Gard Kvale and Martyn Forde.
Earlier in the day, the Men’s 400m freestyle crown was taken over by West’s young gun, Charlie Houchin in a winning time of 3 minutes and 52.08 seconds. Meanwhile, Jean Basson of East pocked silver medal in the respective race by claiming the finishing blockade
in a time of 3 minutes and 57.56 seconds. In addition, the bronze title went to West’s Adam DeJong in a mark of 3 minutes and 59.18 seconds.
The 2011 Pro Dual Meet is a vital occasion for United States’ young guns along with veterans to prepare for the 2012 London Olympics.
