West Bengal CM to felicitate IPL5 champions, Kolkata Knight Riders – Cricket News Update
Indian Premier League 2012 champions, the Kolkata Knight Riders, are due to receive a felicitation ceremony organised in their honour by the West http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 government on Tuesday at the Eden Gardens Kolkata, where they will be received by the state’s Chief Minister,
Mamata Banerjee.
“This is a big achievement,” said Banerjee while speaking at the state secretariat. “The team from the city has won and we are all proud of that. Shah Rukh (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319) is our brand ambassador and his team has won, so we want to felicitate the winners on behalf
of the state government.”
“I will personally welcome the victorious team at the Writers' (Buildings) and then we all head to the Eden Gardens where in a ceremony the team will be felicitated,” she added.
A road show has been organised for the champions, which will commence at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, and will be attended by many other state ministers. Featuring the victorious team atop the trailer of a vehicle, the show is due to start from the south of the city,
at the Hazra Crossing, after which it will proceed towards the state secretariat, the Writers' Buildings.
The final destination will be the Eden Gardens, where the felicitation ceremony will take place. The show is open to all, and is expected to be attended by various celebrities.
The Knight Riders lifted their maiden IPL title at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on May 27, after earning a hard-fought 5-wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings in the tournament final, featuring stellar performances by Manvinder Bisla

The team had an indifferent start to the season under the captaincy of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, but gathered momentum as the tournament progressed, finally finishing the league stage at number 2 on the points table.
Unlike the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils, who dominated the league stage, only to falter in the playoffs, the Knight Riders continued their impressive run, and after eliminating the Daredevils from the competition in the first qualifying match (which they won by 18 runs),
clinched the IPL 2012 title in a narrow yet heroic victory, with 2 balls remaining.
