West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 on a season long loan deal.
The 19-year old Belgian international had not been able to feature for the Blues ever since he joined them last season during Andre Villas-Boas’ short reign as Chelsea boss. Though highly rated and considered the next http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 by many fans, pundits
and analysts, the player was unable to get much first team action.
Lukaku become West Brom’s fifth signing of the summer and will wear the number 20 shirt. The player joins the likes of Yassine El-Ghanassy, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Yacob-c9331 and Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg. The Belgian striker is expected to feature alongside Rosenberg
in a two-pronged attack next season.
Manager Steve Clarke has a host of options in attack, with star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 and Shane Long also present to be deployed up front. The manager was very excited to have signed Lukaku, and said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Romelu to the club. He’s a strong, powerful centre-forward who is young, enthusiastic and eager to learn. He was also desperate to come here.”
“Romelu had a lot of Europe’s top clubs chasing him when he joined Chelsea from Anderlecht for big money a year ago and also had several Premier League teams wanting to take him on loan this summer, so we’ve done well to get him.”
The manager then went on to speak about Lukaku’s physical stature and size, and praised his ‘hunger’. The Belgian forward had a very good record with former club Anderlecht and scored 33 goals in 73 appearances in the Belgian league. Clarke hopes to help
Lukaku develop into a better player during his loan spell with the Baggies, and help his cause of becoming a first team regular for Chelsea when he returns back.
The manager also spoke about Lukaku’s commitment and motivation, and revealed that the striker worked really hard in training and always asked for extra shooting practice. Before making the loan move, Lukaku had spoken to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 TV and said:
"I can't wait to start at West Brom. I've heard a lot of positives about Steve Clarke here and it will be important for me to listen and learn from him."
