West Bromwich Albion have come out and denied rumours of a training ground bust-up between star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 and new manager Steve Clarke.
West Brom flew out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 recently for their pre-season campaign, and it was learnt that Odemwingie had a disagreement with manager Steve Clarke during a training session. The argument got ugly as both exchanged words and it even led to the point where
Clarke was considering selling the player, with Al-Gharrafa reportedly interested in the Nigerian.
Odemwingie was born and raised in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigeria-c2970 as his national team. The player has served in a number of clubs, with French side Lille among the more prominent and well known teams.
Peter Odemwingie has been a very important player for the Baggies. The Nigerian joined the club in 2010 from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow. The player joined the side on a two-year deal, with an option of a third year if the club wished to retain his services.
Odemwingie has managed 60 appearances for West Brom and has scored 25 goals.
Steve Clarke stated Odemwingie’s importance to the squad earlier this month, saying that he will do whatever it takes to hold on to the striker. Clarke had the following to say about his star striker:
"He's (Odemwingie) a top player, a Nigerian international, he scored goals in the Premier League consistently. There's no reason to doubt that he's not a top, top player and I'm really looking forward to working with him."
"His goal record here is really good. He's the man you look to for the goals. Normally as an opposition coach I would be looking and seeing that Peter Odemwingie has scored again."
It came as a surprise to many when rumours started flying around of the training session row between player and manager. West Brom were however very quick in denying the occurrence of any incident, with a club spokesman quoted as saying:
“This is utter nonsense, with no basis whatsoever.”
It is understood that Clarke may consider selling the Nigerian if a lucrative offer is made, with Qatar’s Al-Gharrafa apparently interested in the striker. It is also expected that Clarke will only sell Odemwingie if a suitable replacement is found. However,
Odemwingie’s inclusion in West Brom’s 25-man pre-season squad hints otherwise, and at the moment, the player is very much part of Clarke’s plans.
