After earlier confirming that former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 assistant coach, Steve Clarke, had been appointed the new West Brom manager, the club went on to state that they were excited by his arrival.
Steve Clarke is set to be presented officially to the media on the 18th of June as the next West Bromwich Albion manager and after the club confirmed his appointment as their new coach.
Dan Ashworth, the club’s sporting and technical director, made the announcement earlier in the week on the club’s official website, and pointed out how Clarke’s wealth of experience which he gained from his time at the likes of Newcastle United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
and West Ham United, as well as with Liverpool, made him the ideal candidate to fill the vacant managerial position at the club.
However, Ashworth also acknowledged the fact that this was Clarke’s first appointment as the head coach and manager of a club after spending his managerial career as assistant, youth or reserve team coach.
Ashworth said, "Steve has worked alongside and learned from some top managers and, most importantly, he knows the Premier League inside out and what it takes to succeed at this level.” Before continuing, "He is a talented British coach who has served his
time in the trenches as a No.2 in order to get an opportunity to be in sole charge of a team - and we are delighted to give him that chance.”
He also believed that giving Clarke the chance to manage a club would only fuel the manager’s desire to prove himself and that was something the club would need in times to come.
"Steve has a real hunger and drive to succeed as a No.1 and is excited about the ongoing project we have at the club.”
He also pointed out that the club would “Give Steve (Clarke) the support he needs to carry on the success we have enjoyed over the past three seasons."
Clarke was a member of the Kenny Dalglish’s coaching staff at Liverpool and played a crucial part in guiding the side to two cup finals and Liverpool’s first trophy in six years. His contract at West Brom sees him signed on for two years.
