West Brom expect Peter Odemwingie to stay at Hawthorns, offer him a new deal – EPL news
West Bromwich Albion are optimistic that they will manage to secure the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Omigie, has also confirmed that the talks over new contract deal will commence soon.
Having remained a star performer for Baggies in the past season, West Brom intend to reward his excellent performances by offering him an improved deal. The 29-year-old scored 15 goals in his maiden Premier League edition and played a valuable role in helping Baggies to get out from the stranglehold of relegation zone. West Brom finished the season in 11th place with 47 points.
According to the latest reports, there are many clubs across Europe who are eyeing to recruit the services of Nigerian international for the next season. However, the Baggies are in no mood to let their premier striker go anywhere.
Odemwingie, who emerged as a fan favourite at Hawthorns this past season, has still one year left on his current contract. He penned a two-year contract with the Baggies on August 20, 2010, for an undisclosed fee after completing his transfer from Russian outfit, Lokomotiv Moscow. The Nigerian international had signed a four-year-contract with Lokomotiv Moscow for £ 14 million in 2007 and spent three modest seasons with the Russian club, scoring 21 goals in a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 of 75 games.
The Baggies http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 and technical director, Dan Ashworth, has revealed that the negotiation phase over the new contract deal will start later this summer. Ashworth said he is hopeful that the club will influence Odemwingie to keep his affiliations with the club.
“We have spoken to Peter and we have spoken to Peter's representatives. We know where they are and they know where we are and I don't foresee any great problems in sorting out a new contract” Ashworth said.
Ashworth believe that issue over the new contract should have been sorted out by now, but it’s been getting delayed as the player and his representative are away on vacations.
“Things have been held up because all of the relevant parties are away. But once we can get everybody together I'm optimistic we'll be OK” Ashworth clarified.
