West Bromwich Albion are said to be in the hunt for former Newcastle United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Obafemi-Martins-c28273, who is currently employeed by Rubin Kazan.
The Baggies are believed to be interested in signing the Nigerian striker on a loan deal.
Obafemi Martins had a turbulent season with the Russian side Rubin Kazan, despite having helped them to win the Russian Cup in May.
The 27-year old striker is keen on a move back to England after it was learnt that his elder brother died from a suspected heart attack last August. Martins wants to reunite with his family who live in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, in order to get closer to them and will be
happy to return to the Premier League.
Martins was on loan at Birmingham City in the January 2011 transfer window and helped the club to a shock win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in the Carling Cup final in Wembley.
West Brom had been interested in the Nigerian striker for quite some time, and were waiting on the Russian club to inform them about the price they would have to pay to secure his services for a season long loan. They were recently informed that they may
have to sign the player on a permanent basis and will have to splash out £3 million to get him.
A new striker is believed to be Albion’s priority this summer. New head coach Steve Clarke will meet the squad for the first time when the players come back for pre-season training.
