West Brom have completed a season long loan move for Macedonian defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Goran-Popov-c15165 from Dynamo Kiev.
The Baggies have managed to assemble quite an impressive squad before the closing of the summer transfer window. West Brom’s latest signing, Popov, joins the Baggies on a season long loan, with the inclusion of a buy option at the season’s end.
The 27-year old becomes the club’s sixth signing of the summer, following the footsteps of Argentine midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445. El-Ghanassy has also moved to the club on a season long spell,
but could be signed on a permanent basis if the player impresses with his time at the club.
Popov, who is West Brom’s third on-loan player this season, will aim to provide http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liam-Ridgewell-c22240 with competition at the left back position. The imposing 27-year old defender was granted a work permit on Friday and will be presented the number 4 jersey.
However, the Macedonian will not be available for West Brom’s game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 3-0 at home in their league opener and then travelled
to White Hart Lane where they drew with Tottenham 1-1.
West Brom manager Steve Clarke expressed his delight at the club’s form, both in the league and the league cup. Speaking on his new signing, the manager said:
"I've said many times over the past few weeks that we've been looking to bring in one more defender and I'm delighted we've managed to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Goran-c15135 [Popov].
"Goran is an established, experienced left-back who is tall, powerful, good on the ball and likes to get forward. I'm sure he will settle in really well with us in the Premier League.”
"He has also given up the opportunity to play Champions League football with Dynamo Kiev to join Albion in the Premier League and he's determined to do well here."
The manager is content with the team he built, and is expecting competition in all areas of the squad. West Brom will face an in-from Everton side today, and regardless of the result, the game is sure to be a thrilling encounter.
