West Bromwich Albion vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers – Full time report
Two teams caught in the relegation battle took each other on, in hope of securing three points on the night and ensuring their participation in the Premier League next season.
Those two teams were Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion, who were playing the only scheduled Premier League game of the day.
The match kicked off with the Wolves taking the game to the home-side from early on in the first half. The visitors were stringing together chance after chance and as a result of their determination to attack West Brom, they eventually managed to break the deadlock on the night.
In the 39th minute, Milijas played a brilliant free-kick, which floated right into the path of Jamie O'Hara. O'Hara then went on to smack the ball into the top left corner of the goal from some twenty-five yards out, to give Wolves the lead on the night.
The goal from O'Hara was the only one scored in the first half, as both the sides hit the tunnels at the half way mark, to try and get their hands on the game in the second forty-five.
After the restart, the game really picked up. Both Wolves and West Brom were in the game and were really looking to test each other. It seemed as if both team managers had some motivating words for their players, as they seemed to be willing to give their all on the pitch.
Nonetheless, despite that fact, both sides found it rather hard to actually find the back of the net, despite having created ample chances on the night.
Once the clock hit the ninetieth minute mark, it seemed as if the Wolves would take home all three points from the game.
However, right in the death, Hennessey managed to fumble an effort from Morrison and West Brom’s on loan striker, Carlos Vela, was at hand to turn the ball into the back of the net and give the hosts a share of the spoils at the end of the game.
The line-ups on the night were as follows:
West Brom: Myhill, Jara, Tamas, Olsson, Shorey, Thomas, Dorrans, Scharner, Brunt, Odemwingie, Fortune
Subs: Kiely, Tchoyi, Pablo, Morrison, Reid, Vela, Cox
Wolves: Hennessey, Zubar, Stearman, Berra, Elokobi, Foley, Henry, O'Hara, Milijas, Jarvis, Doyle
Subs: Hahnemann, Craddock, Ebanks-Blake, Fletcher, Ward, David Jones, Hammill
