West Bromwich Albion’s Roy Hodgson wants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 to remain at The Hawthorns – EPL news
West Bromwich Albion coach, Roy Hodgson, wants the club officials to open contract talks with striker, Peter Odemwingie. The Nigerian has earned a lot of fame and respect at the Hawthorns since joining the side in 2010. The manager was talking in the wake
of his team’s 3-1 loss to Black Country rivals, Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium. The match took place on Sunday, May 8.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss has urged the club officials to open contract talks, saying that the striker could do wonders at the club should he stay. He told that it would be surprising if the officials decide to part ways with the 29-year-old. He urged them
to consider retaining the striker for a longer term and offer him a new contract, which the Nigerian deserves.
Odemwingie, since landing at Hawthorns, has appeared 31 times in the League from which he has bagged 15 goals. He was also on the score sheet in the 3-1 loss to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 on Sunday. The striker has also appeared 51 times for the Nigerian national side and
has nine goals to show from those appearances.
Hodgson also praised the club’s chairman, Jeremy Peace, saying that he is a sensible man and has always worked for the betterment of his side. He believed that it’s only a matter of time before the club decides to offer a renewed contract to the impressive
Nigerian.
The former Fulham boss reckoned that Odemwingie would find it even more difficult in his second and third years at the club. He mentioned that teams usually take time to study a player’s ability and the Nigerian was new to the League with no team really
knowing about him at all. Hodgson enthused that teams now know the striker well and would make plans to jot down the 29-year-old when he appears next season.
Hodgson concluded by saying, "You have to be strong in your second and third years in particular to make certain people realise you are not a flash in the pan, that the talent you have got is a real talent. He has talent and that's always going to endure
because quality is what will keep people in their jobs."
The Baggies are currently 13th in the League table with 43 points and are left with two more games in the current campaign.
