West Ham United boss Avram Grant could face the sack
West Ham United boss Avram Grant is fighting to save his job after the Hammers’ disastrous start to their Premier League campaign.
The former Chelsea and Portsmouth chief has his job on the line according to The News of the World, who suggest that the Israeli is under intense pressure from co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan after failing to pick up any points in the last three games.
As a result to the bad spell, the Hammer now find themselves at the bottom of the table and are facing a tough list of fixtures this month, which include playing current champions’ Chelsea and Stoke at Upton Park and travelling to White Hart Lane to play Tottenham.
The Hammers board are expecting an immediate improvement and are preparing to review Grant's position if they remain bottom of the table, a tough task considering the opponents, which leaves Grant’s future at the club looking bleak.
Before the start of the season, optimism at Upton Park was high with the club expecting a mid-table finish but the terrible start has seen season expectations adjusted, and the owners will now be satisfied if they escape relegation.
