West Ham United boss Avram Grant focusing on positives after Manchester City defeat: EPL news
West Ham United manager Avram Grant remains optimistic about his side’s chances of avoiding relegation this season, despite their recent 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday.
Early goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 pulled one back for the visitors in the 33rd minute, but it was not enough to inspire a Hammers comeback. West Ham went on to lose the match 2-1.
That result has left the Hammers rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table. Not even the most optmistic of West Ham fans can see a way out of this predicament, especially since there are just three games of the season left to contest.
Many pundits have predicted that West Ham United will be relegated by the end of the Barclays Premier League season. To be fair, the team has done very little on the pitch to prove otherwise. However, manager Avram Grant sees a tiny ray of hope in his side’s performance against Manchester City.
The Hammers were without the services of a number of their influential players, including the likes of Scott Parker and Wayne Bridge, who is ineligible to face his parent club, Manchester City. However, they still managed to give the Sky Blues a real fight, and manager Avram Grant believes that this fighting spirit might just see them move out of the bottom three by the end of the campaign.
Speaking after the match, Grant said, “We played without so many players. When we had a good run a few weeks ago, Gary O'Neil, Scott Parker, Mark Noble (all of whom are injured) and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Bridge-c36733 were a major part of this. We played against City without them and we showed that the difference between us losing and taking a point was small, so we can take a lot of positive things for the next game."
West Ham United currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League standings with 32 points.
