West Ham United defender Danny Gabbidon hoping for contract extension
West Ham United defender West Ham United defender Danny Gabbidon has revealed that he is hoping to win a contract extension at the English Premier League club.
The 31-year-old is in the final year of his contract, but various injuries have meant that he has been unable to make as much of an impression on the first team as he’d have liked — he did not play any football between December 2007 and August 2007.
Gabbidon has also retired from playing international football with Wales in a bid to get his career back on track and he is now determined to win a new deal at Upton Park.
'Happy with current form'
He told Sky Sports that: "I am in the last year of my contract and I have not had any discussions over a new deal at the moment. The most important thing for me is to stay fit and I am happy with the way I am playing at the minute. If I stay fit and am playing
well then I am hopeful I will be offered a new deal to stay at West Ham."

Gabbidon added that he hoped his injury problems were at an end as he attempts to prove that he can be a valuable member of Avram Grant’s side beyond this season.
He said that: "I hope I am over my injury problems as this is an important time and an important season for me. I have worked hard on my fitness over the summer and so far so good for me as I have only missed one game with a slight niggle. Things are looking
good for and I am confident I can enjoy a good season."
Gabbidon moved to West Ham from Cardiff City in 2005 and has made 75 league appearances for the club.
