West Ham United looking to keep Victor Obinna
West Ham United co-owner David Gold has confirmed that club is looking to keep on loan striker Victor Obinna.
The 23-year-old currently has a fixed contract with Italian champions Inter Milan and Gold has revealed that the club is looking at a number of ways to turn Obinna's loan contract at the club into a long-term
one.
"We don't have an option to buy Victor at the end of his loan deal.
But we have spoken to Inter and we do have an understanding with them," Gold told the
Daily Star newspaper.
Obinna has made a good impression since he joined West Ham. He is well liked and admired by the fans due to his pace and the way he plays football with a smile on his face.
He has not been prolific during his time at the club as he's made ten appearances, not scoring but setting up one goal. It's been his physical and aggressive nature that
has impressed more than anything else.
"We have been impressed with Victor. Hopefully we can do some business because
he is a player we want to keep," added Gold.
A lot is going to depend on whether West Ham can get out of the relegation places and stay in the Premier League. A young player like Obinna will naturally want a return to Inter
Milan if West Ham ends up playing Championship football next season.
Relegation would also mean that West Ham may not have the funds to sign Obinna on a permanent basis. Inter Milan will want a decent price for the striker.
"Of course, that would depend on which league we are playing in next season, but we are confident we can get out of the position we are in," said Gold.
Betting advice
There are two bets to make here; firstly, back Obinna to get a goal at some point in the near future. He is a very good player with a lot of intelligence and a few goals are
not far away. Secondly, back West Ham to survive in the Premier League.
