The former Newcastle coach has expressed confidence that his side will secure a good result in their upcoming English Premier League encounter against the Saints.
West Ham United head coach, Sam Allardyce, is brimming with confidence ahead of his side’s upcoming English Premier League clash against Southampton at Upton Park on Saturday, October 20.
The 58-year-old tactician, who took the reins of the Hammers at the start of the 2011/12 campaign, has admitted that his side has made a bright start to the new season.
However, the English trainer has warned his troops that the upcoming clash is his side’s most challenging game of the season thus far.
The Upton Park outfit is currently occupying the eighth spot on the league table, eight points behind the league leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
“We've coped with the Premier League very well over the start of our season, also I think we had a group of fixtures that were less challenging than Southampton's”, Allardyce was quoted as saying to the media.
The Irons are heading into the game on the back of a demoralising 1-3 defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in front of their home crowd on October 6, but the former Newcastle boss has stressed that his side’s confidence is sky high to secure a good result in the
upcoming fixture.
“We were disappointed by Arsenal, but our confidence, particularly here at home is very high. I hope we can see the same level of performance that I've seen at the start of the season. If we can hit that level of form, I think we'll get opportunities to
win the game”, Allardyce added.
The former Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 boss, who has tons of coaching experience under his belt, admitted that his side knows about the Saints’ strength to score goals from set plays, while adding that his side’s strength is also not to concede goals from set plays.
“Clearly one of [Southampton's] strengths is set plays and I don't want to jump the gun, but one of our strengths this year is not conceding from set plays as well as scoring from them”, Allardyce concluded.
The English mentor would be hoping that his side resumes league action by bagging all three points, though, he also knows that his troops will need to put in theirm100 percent to achieve this feat.
