The 22-year-old has expressed his desire to earn a starting spot in the Hammers’ upcoming Premier League game against the Royals after putting in a solid performance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 as a substitute last weekend.
West Ham United defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-c2929 Spence, has expressed his desire to be the part of his side’s starting XI against Reading on Saturday, December 29.
The 22-year-old has failed to feature regularly for the Hammers, but has been included in Sam Allardyce’s matchday squad in each of his side’s last six English Premier League fixtures.
The promising youngster’s patience was rewarded in his side’s last league encounter against Everton on December 22, when he came from the bench to replace Joey O’Brien in the 81st minute of the game.
Spence put in a solid performance despite the limited game time, though, his side had to suffer a 1-2 defeat at the end of 90 minutes.
And the English stopper, who has represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Junior-c20060 levels but has yet to receive a senior call-up, has admitted that losing the game against the Toffees was extremely disappointing, especially how they lost it.
Carlton Cole gifted the home side a lead within the opening 14 minutes of play, and dominated proceedings in the remaining action of the first-half.
Everton resumed action brightly after the break and Victor Anichebe’s strike in the 64th minute restored parity. The Hammers were reduced to ten men after Cole received his marching orders in the 67th minute, and the Toffees took full
advantage of their numerical superiority by netting the winner in the 74th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208.
“It is hard to be positive when you lose a football match so close to the end of the game and I was disappointed with the result against Everton - especially with the manner of it. Certainly on the balance of play, we would have wanted something out of the
game”, Spence was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The 22-year-old went on to express optimism ahead of his side’s next league game against the Royals.
“We are in a results business and we're interested in points, so when you come away with no points, there is little consolation, really. Our form lately has not been reflected in the number of points which we have taken, so hopefully we can get the result
at Reading that we dearly want”, Spence concluded.
West Ham are currently sitting 12th on the league table.
