West Ham reveal ambitious plans for the January transfer window
Basement side West Ham United find themselves with a mountain to climb if they want to stay in the Premier League. The Hammers are favourites to be relegated this season after earning just seventeen points from twenty matches played. Their form has been
so poor that they have only managed three wins so far in the competition.
However, West Ham United co-owner David Gold remains optimistic. Despite the club’s reported debt of around 100 million pounds, Gold is ready to splash some cash in the upcoming January transfer window. The West Ham chairman has revealed his audacious plans
to keep the club in the Premier League, saying, “We've got 15 irons in the fire, and I mean that literally. We're just concentrating on incomings, and if you get three, you've done good.”
It’s no secret that Avram Grant’s top priority in January is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Sidwell-c34181; however, Gold refused to name the rest of his targets for the upcoming transfer window. He said, “There's a lot of secret stuff going on; we're trying to outwit our competitors.
We're after a player who is the same type of player one of our competitors is looking for, and we want to keep that as quiet as we can and complete the deal.”
The message from David Gold is clear: West Ham are not going down without a fight. He also went on to add that the Hammers would brush aside all offers for their star midfielder Scott Parker. Gold insisted that West Ham have no intention of selling their
best players in the January transfer window, especially since the club is “fighting for its life”. When asked about the future of Frederic Piquionne, Gold repeated that the striker was not for sale.
The Hammers have certainly started to show that they mean business. Avram Gran’t side walked away with all three points from their match against Fulham, and perhaps more impressively, earned themselves a point when they welcomed Everton to Upton Park. Their
recent performances on the pitch might give West Ham supporters some hope; however, they won’t be holding their breath.
