In November of 2010, the off-spinner’s bowling action was found to be ill-legal according to ICC rules and he was banned from playing cricket.
Shillingford underwent a tough routine and worked on his action ever since. He was finally able to correct his bowling action and his hard work paid off as the biomechanical tests revealed that his bowling action is now absolutely legitimate.
The 28-year-old spinner, who was over thrilled with joy said, “I am extremely http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-Percival-Day-c45927 that I have been cleared to continue playing international cricket. It has been what I always wanted to do and having to overcome this hurdle has made me stronger and more
determined to succeed.”
The right-arm bowler showed his gratitude to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board (WICB) for keeping faith in him and supporting him throughout the grueling phase.
He also expressed his appreciation towards Sagicor High Performance Centre, the place where the off spinner did most of his training and was able to bring his bowling arm within the 15 degree stipulated angle necessary for bowlers to be legal.
"I put in a lot of hard work over the past few months and I must thank the West Indies Cricket Board for the support and particularly the Sagicor High Performance Centre where the majority of the work was done," said the off-spin bowler.
Now that Shillingford has been given a license to play international cricket, the 28-year-old bowler will be eyeing to make a return to West Indies national team. The Caribbean side is currently hosting a series against 2011 World Cup winners, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Shillingford will have to face tough competition from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashley-Nurse-c46329 and Devendra Bishoo, for a spot in West Indies team. Bishoo, who is a very talented leg-spinner, has been in superb form and Caribbean side won’t consider replacing him.
The 28-year-old off-spinner, has represented his national team in five Test matches. His spot in the One Day side is unlikely, however, he can be part of the Test team and that too if management decides to drop fellow off-spinner, Nurse.
