“This presents a good opportunity for young Powell to captain in the shorter format of the game. He must use this opportunity well and pay back the trust that the selectors have put in him. It’s an honour to lead any West Indies team and Powell should cherish

However, on his return, the 22-year-old was made part of the West Indies A squad for the final unofficial Test against India A. Powell responded brilliantly in the decider with a career best 139 in the first innings and an unbeaten 56 in the second innings
and consequently, led his team to clinch the series with a resounding 10-wicket victory.
