West Indies A vs India – 3rd unofficial Test recap – Day 1
The first day of the third and final unofficial test between the West Indies A and India A was played at Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 captain Veerasammy Permaul won the toss and invited the tourist to bat first. The decision proved
good as the Windies started the third unofficial Test on a strong note by bowling out the visitors at 230 and then scored 34 runs for no loss at the end of day one.
The visitors went into the match hoping to win the series, expecting a fight back from the batsmen however; the hosts displayed another skillful bowling exhibition and didn’t allow the opposition to capitalize on good starts.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 A team soon found their hopes shattered with yet another top-order batting collapse and by the end of the day the visitors were helplessly looking down the barrel. With the hosts ruling the roost with the ball, also gave some useful batting tips to
the fledgling Indian opening pair without losing any wicket by the end of the day’s play.
The Indian openers like previous four innings squandered another chance to provide a much solid opening base. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 followed, continuing his poor form after
adding just 12 runs to his tally before being cleaned up by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jonathan-Lyndon-Carter-c69137.
A short partnership of 46-run followed between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Veerasammy-Permaul-c94981. Pujara had been the most successful Indian batsmen
on tour was unfortunate to be run out on 33, leaving his team struggling at 100 for 4. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Omar-Akeem-Powell-c71441 caught him off Carter at 32.
The seamer struck another blow when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WP-Saha-c2800 fell for 27 and soon India was teetering at 179 for 7. Just as it looked that the away side might well be all-out below 200, Jalaj Saxena rescued the innings by playing an anchoring knock. Akshay Darekar,
after a long stay at the pitch went for naught off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parvinder-Awana-c80792 quickly followed him for zero.
Carter and Bishoo were the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets each. Johnson, McClean and Permaul were other wicket takers, with one wicket a piece. Later Powell and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kraigg-Brathwaite-c71708 batted for 14 overs to deny any chances for an early come back
from the Indians.
For tourists, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jalaj-Saxena-c1632 was their only prominent batsman who showed some resistance, the rest only followed the continuing sorry tale of the Indian batting in the series. They will be hoping for an improved outing when play resumes on Day 2.
