West Indies A team were put firmly ahead by their fast bowling pair of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delorn-Edison-Johnson-c53529 on the 3rd day of the final unofficial Test against India A, played at Beausejour Stadium in St. Lucia, June 18, 2012. The hosts only managed
to add 16 runs to their overnight score and were finally bowled out for 336. In reply the visitors were 181 for 7 with one day to go.
The hosts lasted for less than ten overs in the morning session as Johnson was out for four off Shami Ahmed and the West Indian innings was wrapped up when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parvinder-Awana-c80792 took the wicket of McClean for a useful 19. For the tourists Ahmed Awana and Jalaj
Saxena took three wickets each with Akshay Darekar took one wicket.
When the visitors came in to bat they were under a deficit of 106 runs and had a huge task ahead of them. However, as was the case with the previous innings, the Indian batting again failed to respond. The failure of the opening pair has played havoc all
through the series, exposing the vulnerable middle-order, and the tale continued after both openers followed one after another in quick succession.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 (2) followed suit with same treatment metted out by Johnson, ending a miserable
series with the bat. Visiting captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CA-Pujara-c1209, had a below par third Test and couldn’t carry on his performances from the first two matches; and was the next to follow for 5 as McClean took his wicket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, failed for the fifth successive time in the series, putting a serious question mark on his Test career. Johnson was again the tormentor, sending him back to the pavilion for
2. At this stage, India was 35 for 4 and an innings-defeat looked a real possibility.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WP-Saha-c2800, both of whom chipped in with useful knocks in the first innings, again came for their team’s rescue and built the highest partnership of the match so far. They added 95 runs for the fifth-wicket and gave the innings
some respectability with Tiwary scoring his maiden fifty of the series. McClean finally caught him off guard as he was leg before wicket after making a handful 62.
McClean didn’t give much time to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shami-Ahmed-c2496 and Saha built a small partnership to take the score
to 181 for 7.
The day ended with another disappointment for the tourists, leading by only 75 runs. It is still to be seen for how long the tail-enders would toil hard on the fourth day to avoid the inevitable. For the locals, it was another good day in the office, as
their fast-bowling pair of Johnson and McClean swept through the visitor’s top-order.
