West Indies Cricket Board Vs http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358
The officials of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board (WICB) argue that Chris Gayle, the Windies’ batting legend, is not showing seriousness in resolving his rift with the board and lingering on the matter without any justifiable reason.
Gayle and WICB have been at loggers head since the end of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
As Gayle was shown the door for nothing, he took it as an insult and went on to sign with Royall Challengers Bangalore to play the fourth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).
When the Windies were struggling against the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723, Gayle was showing his heroics on Indian soil.
Gayle’s IPL deal irked the WICB as they claimed that the cricketer had not taken proper permission before leaving home.
However, Gayle continued to play and finished up the tournament as the top scorer.
After a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 reached West Indies to play a series. Despite hard-pressed public demand, the WICB again did not select Gayle in the squad.
Following this incident, Gayle went on to pour out venomous remarks against the board, the skipper, Darren Sammy, and coach, Ottis Gibson.
The act added more fuel to fire. The WICB called on Gayle in a meeting to make a patch-up. As the batsman was not ready to apologise for his defamatory statements, the meeting failed.
Thus, the spat is still alive and the board managers think that Gayle does not want to end the controversy.
WICB’s statement on the matter reads:
“It does not help that whilst matters are under discussion, Gayle, rather than expressing his views directly to the Board through one of the numerous channels open to him, chooses instead to make public his version of events and to create further antagonism.
The WICB has made every effort to resolve the issues with Gayle in an amicable manner by proposing meetings with him and his representatives”.
Gayle has 91 Tests, 228 ODIs and 20 T20Is to his credit.
