The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has slammed players, Chris Gayle and Jerome http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, over blaming the board for lack of communication on their injury status. Both star cricketers are currently taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for their
respective franchises, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Pune Warriors http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (PWI).
According to the WICB, both players were not given final clearance to resume playing competitive cricket due to their injuries, but they didn’t wait for the decision by the board and went to India.
The board stated, “Chris departed for India. Has not required medical review, nor did he complete rehabilitation program and physiotherapy review as required, neither did he complete fitness testing prior to competition resumption.”
Commenting on Taylor, the board claimed, “He had not kept physiotherapy appointments for weeks prior to his deciding to resume playing. Jerome departed to India without completion of rehabilitation, medical assessment or approval.”
The ongoing rift between the WICB and some key players has not helped the national team, as they have been struggling against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. The Caribbean Kings hosted a complete series featuring one Twenty20, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Test matches
against the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723.
The hosts managed to win the lone Twenty20, but struggled in the 50-over format. They lost the series by a margin of 2-3 and had a bad start to the longest version of the game, losing nine wickets for just 209 runs on day-one of the first Test.
Although senior players, Ramnaresh Sarwan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shivnarine-Chanderpaul-c90073, have returned to the side, the struggle didn’t end for the team. They are missing explosive opener, Gayle, who has been in terrific form for the RCB team in the lucrative league.
The flamboyant opener has won many games for his franchise and scored two blistering tons. He claimed that playing for the national side would have been his priority, but the behaviour of the cricket board forced him to take part in the cash rich event.
On the other hand, Taylor stated that he had to make a decision to secure his future, as there were no indications from the WICB on selecting the pacer.
