West Indies Cricket Board recalls Chris Gayle for the ODI series – Cricket News Update
West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), on Tuesday, announced the 15-man squad for the One-Day International series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 starting from Saturday, June 16, 2012 at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.
Chris Gayle, the left-handed opening batsman, has been recalled into West Indies team after spending nearly 15 months away from international cricket.
Gayle last played for the West Indies in the quarter-finals of 2011 World Cup against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
The sturdy batters’ relationship with WICB and coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358 deteriorated after he criticized certain policies of the board during a live radio interview.

The selection of Gayle for the ODI series came after the opening batsman and his agent, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Anthony-Thor-Hall-c75764, held a meeting with politicians and WICB officials at St Vincent. The Prime Minister of St Vincent, Ralph Gonsalves, along with
Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister, Baldwin Spencer and WICB president http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Julian-Robert-Hunte-c69628, attended the meeting.
A WICB statement after the meeting read, “Directors of the West Indies Cricket Board recently met by teleconference and are pleased that consistent with his previous commitment Mr Chris Gayle has made himself available for selection
to the West Indies team.”
“The board believes that Mr Gayle's stated commitment to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 cricket will be an asset to the team and looks forward to his contributions in that regard.”
Apart from Gayle, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Russell-c87177 opted out of the Test series to take part in IPL while Simmons has attained full fitness
