West Indies’ batsman Darren Bravo has been ruled out of the fourth One Day International (ODI) of the five-match series against India. The match is scheduled to be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore in India on Thursday, December 8, 2011.
Bravo injured his hamstring during the third ODI of the series in Ahmedabad. He failed to continue batting in the match and had to take a dejected walk back to the pavilion after adding 26 runs to the total.
According to the new rules of the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625), the batsmen are not allowed runners in case of an injury and this is what forced Bravo to discontinue his innings.
The stylish middle-order batsman has been performing consistently well for his side in all three formats of the game. He scored a couple of big centuries against India in a recently concluded Test series and continued the same momentum in the 50-over format.
However, the 22-year-old might not be able to take part in the final two ODIs following his hamstring problem.
There is still a chance for him to return for the final ODI, but West Indies will have to win the next game in order to level the series at 2-2 before finally fighting for the series in Chennai.
Commenting on the upcoming games, the West Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 stated, “It's two games left and most of the guys have been away from home for two and a half months. We want to finish on a high. We have to believe we can win. It's an important game
for us and hopefully we can win it and take it down to Chennai for the final.”
He admitted that the star middle-order batsman will be missed saying, “Yes, we will miss Bravo in the line-up. But it gives an opportunity for someone else to come out and make a name for himself. Our team is definitely improving, when we miss guys, the
guys come in and perform.”
The Caribbean Kings lost the opening two ODIs of the series, but bounced back strongly by winning the third one. They will need to perform exceptionally well in order to overcome the opposition in the final two games of the series.
