West Indies’ all-rounder Kieron Pollard wants to contribute in all three departments of the game once he steps on the field for the first One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series against Bangladesh.
The flamboyant player was disappointed over his team’s loss in the lone Twenty20 of the series against Bangladesh, but claimed to have put that behind now.
Apart from his batting, Pollard realises the fact that he will have a bigger role to play in the upcoming matches. He stated, “I also know I have a job to do with the ball and in the outfield. I enjoy being on the cricket field, knowing that an all-rounder,
I can contribute in several areas - with a crucial wicket, a catch or a smart piece of fielding. So whatever I'm called on to do I'm ready to make a contribution.”
The 24-year-old had recently played in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians (MI), which went onto win the Final of the event against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
According to the Caribbean dynamite, having played in the Indian conditions will help him do well against Bangladesh, as the pitches in Subcontinent are more or less the same.
He added, “You have to go there and play to the situation ... according to what the pitch is doing. As a batsman you have to assess it properly. The wickets here are slow, the wickets in India were slow as well. I played a lot of games in Chennai where the
wicket was slow. So actually it's it will be the same sort of wicket here in Bangladesh.”
West Indian cricket has been struggling a lot in recent times, but there are some talented players in the team who can lift the overall performance.
The main problem for the team has been the inconsistency in every format of the game. They played a promising two match Twenty20 series on the English tour and managed to win a game there as well.
