Sebastian Gotch, captain of the Australian U-19 team, elected to field first after winning the toss. Although the conditions were good for batting, the Aussie skipper wanted to chase.

Kieron Joseph and Anthony Alleyne then tried to steady the ship for their team, after they lost two quick wickets. They managed to get starts, but were unable to make the most of the platform laid by the openers. Both batsmen were dismissed after scoring
20 and 25 runs respectively.
Kavem Hodge and Kyle Mayers walked out to the middle when their team was in a spot of bother with four wickets down for 114 runs. They put together 49 runs for the fifth wicket, but Mayers was dismissed after scoring 30 runs.

Lower-order batsman Cameron Bancroft was the only other player, who looked good for his 23 runs. He was unfortunate to be run-out and the team was dismissed within 40 overs.
Jerome Jones was the pick of the bowlers for his team, taking three wickets in the match, but Hodge was named as player-of-the-match for his brilliant half-century.
