West Indies Women in India: India seal 10-run win in the second one-day
India women survived a late assault from off-spinner Anisa Mohammed and Shakera Selman to seal a close 10-run victory over visiting West Indies women in the second match of the five ODI series played at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 seemed to set a big total after their top four batsman got started. After Rumeli Dhar’s dismissal for 1, Harmanpreet Kaur and Diana David shared 37-run stand for the fifth wicket taking the hosts to 115 for 4 in the 33rd over.
But a lower order capitulation shattered the dreams of the hosts to set a competitive target and the whole team of India was bowled out in the 42nd over for only 134.
Keeping in view http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, the hosts might have been worried that their total of 134 runs would be inadequate to defend, but Gouher Sultana brushed off the fears claiming three wickets
for just 10 runs in her quota of 10 overs – including five maiden overs as well.
West Indies went off to a poor start losing Stafanie Taylor - the man-of-the-match of 1st ODI – for only 4. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jhulan-Goswami-c66974 on the first
ball of third over.
Taylor was soon followed back by Juliana Nero and Shanel Daley as the hosts faltered to 29 for 3. Nero was trapped lbw off seamer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gouher-Sultana-c60424
wrecked the hosts in the middle overs, claiming wickets of Deandra Dottin for 14 and the West Indian skipper Merissa Aguilleira for a sweet duck.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anisa-Mohammed-c44783 and Shakera Selman then took the charge of recovery but it was quite slow, as the pair took more than 18 overs to clinch 37 runs. West Indies last wicket fell in the 48th over when Tremayne Smartt was run
out at the striker’s end off Poonam Raut’s throw.
Jhulan Goswami was looking forward to a comfortable win after the visitors were reduced to 80 for 8 in the 26th over. But a 37-run partnership between Anisa Mohammed and Shakera Selman for the ninth wicket made the hosts
sweat before left-arm spinner Gouher Sultana sealed the deal in her side’s favor by claiming crucial wicket of Mohammed at 26. With India’s 10-run win in Vadodara, the five-match series is now levelled at 1-1.
