West Indies Women v Sri Lanka Women - 4th T20I – Live Score and Update
Sri Lanka Women 94/7 v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Women won by 14 runs
Sri Lanka finally struck back at hosts West Indies in the five-match T20I series by grabbing their first win in the penultimate match of the tournament as they won the game by 14 runs, at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
HM Samuddika was the star of the show as in her debut T20I clash she was named as the Player of the Match for taking three wickets in four overs by conceding only 11 runs.
On winning the toss, Sri Lanka chose to bat first, aiming to score high and avenge their previous three defeats which cost them the series.
This was a face saving game more than anything else, as the Sri Lankans were aiming to salvage lost pride.
Openers, Chamari Atapattu and Yasoda Mendis tried to give their team a solid start, but could muster only 17 runs before the partnership ended on the wicket of Atapattu, who fell after scoring eight runs before having her stumps shattered by Munroe.
After the departure of the opener, it was time for number-three batswoman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Herath-Mudiyanselage-Deepika-Rasangika-c62870, to forge a potent partnership with Mendis as the Sri Lankan girls sought a defendable total on the board.
With 51 runs on the board, it was then time for Mendis to find her way back to the pavilion after losing her wicket on 21 runs.
The Lankan middle-order then became victim to the wrath of the West Indies bowlers, as the batting side kept losing wickets, consequently posting just 94 runs before the end of their 20 overs.
Failing to post a mammoth total on the board, Sri Lanka were surely under pressure as they knew that they needed to give a solid performance in the field to restrict the hosts from chasing down the required target.
Nevertheless, after getting off to a decent start, the Windies suffered a terrible batting collapse where none of the batswomen could score in double figures apart from opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Juliana-Barbara-Nero-c69633, who hammered a 32-run knock.
