West Indies’ all-rounder Kieron Pollard out of action for three weeks – Cricket News Update
West Indies’ all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754 has been ruled out of action for three weeks following a shoulder injury during a domestic tournament in the country. He will miss the Final of the Regional Super50, scheduled to be played on Saturday, October 29,
2011.
Pollard recently took part in his team’s One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, but returned home after that in order to represent his club Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) in the local championship.
The star player clobbered an unbeaten 34 in his last match of the Regional Super50 against Leeward Islands and was eagerly looking forward to guiding his side to a title victory. However, he missed the Semi-Final of the event against Guyana and will be unable
to take part in the Final as well.
According to the T&T manager Omar http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, Pollard’s unfortunate injury will be a big blow for the team. He stated, “Pollard has returned home since Sunday and it is a big blow for us because he came in and immediately made a big, big impact. He added a lot
of motivation and support...the team was energised with him around and we will miss that.”
Even though the star all-rounder was not a part of T&T in the Semi-Final, his side managed to win the match comfortably by four wickets and 23 balls remaining.
Guyana had scored 200 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs, but failed to defend the total against the solid batting line-up of T&T.
The club is also favourite of winning the Final even without their star all-rounder. They recently took part in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472ages.
However, T&T were unable to win a couple of close games during the main round, failing to qualify for the final four of the event.
Pollard was unavailable during that tournament as well, but that time it was a matter of his own choice, as there were no injury problems. He opted to play for his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians (MI), which went onto win the Final comfortably.
