West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard terms Windies favourites to win their fixture against England
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 all-rounder and limited overs specialist Kieron Pollard has said that his team is favourite to beat England in an all-important Group B clash of the ICC World Cup 2011.
It is a must-win match for both the teams as the team losing the fixture will be almost out of the tournament. However, West Indies are in a better position as compared to England as they have one more match left in the group stage against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Pollard warned his team and said that the English side has the potential to bounce back, especially because they know that it is a do or die situation for them. He said that even though England are not playing well in the tournament but West Indies cannot
take them lightly as Andrew Strauss and company are still a very strong unit. The all-rounder gave the reference of the ICC World Twenty20 2010 when England bounced back from same a similar situation to win the championship.
“Each and every game we go out to play we regard ourselves as favourites. England are a tough team to beat though they have not been playing well. If you look back at the Twenty20 World Cup, they were in a similar position and able to bounce back and actually
reached the final,” Pollard said.
Although the English team has not been impressive in the ongoing tournament so far but the West Indian all-rounder feels that he and his team needs to concentrate on their own game rather than thinking more about the opposition.
Pollard, who is famous for his hard hitting, said, “At the end of the day I have to be concerned about what is going in our camp what we need to do to win the game. We need to play hard cricket and stick to basics. We are well prepared to take on England
and we have been improving our game.”
West Indies are having a good tournament so far as they have beaten the three minnows quite comprehensively after they got a hammering against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in their opening match of the event.
However, West Indies’ real test would be their next two matches against England and India, which will decide about their fate in the tournament.
