The West Indies Cricket Board, on Tuesday announced it’s A squad, including a handful of players with international experience, for the First Digicel ‘Test’ against India A, to be played at Kensington Oval from June 2, 2012.
The 13-member squad picked by the WICB selectors includes as many as eight players with international experience, including rookie leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo. The squad will also have services of batsman Kraigg Brathwaite and Lendl
Simmons. Both Bishoo and Brathwaite were part of the squad that played http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in a home Test series last month.
Bishoo, the 26-year-old Guyana leg-spinner who made his international debut in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011, has so far played 11 Tests and 13 One Day Internationals for the Windies, claiming 40 and 20 wickets in each format respectively.
Lendl Simmons, the 27-year-old Trinidad and Tobago medium pacer holds an international experience of 36 One Day Internationals and 8 Tests. He has not played competitive cricket since February this year, when he sustained a finger
injury during the Regional first class championships, which forced him to undergo a surgery.
Initially, the 30-year-old Barbados fast bowler, Tino Best, was also part of the squad, but he was recalled to the West Indies squad in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 to replace the injured Shannon Gabriel. Another Barbados fast bowler Kevin McClean, has
been called up as a replacement.
Another player in the 13-man squad with a brief international experience is http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Donovan-Jomo-Pagon-c54496, who has played only two matches so far for the national team.

The Guyana left-arm spinner, Veerasammy Permaul has been retained as the captain of the A team, while Barbadian all-rounder Jason Holder will be the vice captain during the home series.
The Digicel Series include three unofficial ‘Tests’, followed by two Twenty20s and three One Day matches to be played in Barbados, St Lucia, Trinidad, St Vincent, and Grenada.
