West Indies have named a 15-man squad for the tour of Bangladesh, which includes the uncapped left-arm spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Veerasammy-Permaul-c94981 as the only new face.
It will be the team’s first assignment since lifting the World T20 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, contesting in two Tests, five One-day International along with a One-off T20 on a tour which begins early next month.
The squad largely comprises of personnel who triumphed against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758.
The only major tinkering has been done in the spin department, with Permaul picked ahead of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 A (home) and Bangladesh A sides (away). In the latter tour, he took 12 wickets in two four-day games, at Dhaka, and further offered solid contributions with the bat.
He however, will be the side’s third spin option, after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/N-Deonarine-c2051 held their places. Both men also showed fine form against the Kiwis, doing bulk of the damage.
The players who have been recalled include left-handers in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 earlier in the year. He however, played in the World T20 and scored 54* and 45 in the two qualifying matches of the Champions League T20, for Trinidad & Tobago.
The latter was dropped from the side following poor performances against England but since then has improved while playing for the A side. The team will be led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382.
