http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358 confident after win against England in Twenty20 – Cricket News Update
West Indies coach Ottis Gibson was pleased with his side’s performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the two-match Twenty20 series at the Kennington Oval, London.
The hosts managed to win the first match comfortably, but the Caribbean Kings bounced back strongly to win the second Twenty20, levelling the series at 1-1.
Gibson was delighted with the victory and said that it has given a boost to the confidence of the entire dressing room.
According to the West Indian coach, “Any victory gives you a nice feeling and to defend a total of 113 and win was a great feeling. It proves that my guys have a lot of self-belief. After the first game where we were very poor, this turn around was remarkable.”
Debutant spinner Garey Mathurin ended up with match winning figures of 3/9 in his four-over spell against England in the second Twenty20. He was named player-of-the-match for his exceptional performance.
This impressed Gibson and he praised the 28-year-old spinner saying, “Mathurin is 28 years old and has been playing cricket for a while. It was nice to have him as a sort of secret weapon that England hadn’t seen before and he did a great job for us. And
I am sure he will go from strength to strength in his career.”
West Indies will now be heading to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 for a complete series and Mathurin will be looking forward to make an impression in every format of the game.
The left-arm spinner will get ideal conditions in Bangladesh, as the wickets produced in the country have plenty of assistance for spinners.
Apart from him, leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo will also be looking forward to a good series. He won the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 emerging player of the year award this year and will be expected to continue an impressive run.
On the other hand, Bangladesh will not be an easier opponent on home soil. They have a very well balanced squad, but will be under some pressure to perform as they were defeated in their last series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
However, the team will now be led by wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045, who will be determined to register his first series win as captain.
