Having beaten New Zealand in all three formats of the game, Ottis Gibson, the West Indies coach, believes that his team is moving in the right direction and also made it clear that he does not intend to leave the job in near future.
West Indies have struggled at the international level since the mid-1990s, although they were the undisputed champions of the game prior to that.
A number of cricket analysts have slammed the attitude of the Caribbean men over the years, which has been found wanting more often than not. This is one of the major reasons why West Indies have not been able to live up to the expectations,
despite having a number of talented players up their ranks.
However, the islanders have shown signs of improvement over the last 12 months, giving a hard time to teams like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in all three formats of the game at home recently.
Gibson, who is often termed to be a very strict coach, claims that his side has started working extremely hard, looking to be more professional. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 coach also hailed the team spirit and hopes that the boys will continue
to deliver the goods in future.
"I think it has moved a long way," he said. "We work a lot harder, we spend more time actually talking about the game, team meetings are a lot more interactive. We analyse the game, so when we go out on the field we have an idea of
what we're gonna do. The cricket is starting to take shape in that sense."
Since taking over, Gibson has faced a number of controversies, including disputes with the senior players of the side. The former fast bowler has also been criticized by some of the cricketing ranks for not giving due importance to the senior players. However,
the coach revealed that he has no plans of quitting the job and wants to take the West Indies cricket to new heights.
"Of course I want to stay on. I don't think the job that I've come to do is finished and I would want to be here to finish the job," Gibson added.
