Former Test batsman and current West Indies team manager Richie Richardson has lauded the team and its management for their improved performances, following the successful recently wrapped-up series against New Zealand.
“The hard work, the dedication, the sacrifice and the desire to improve have paid dividends,” he said. “These are some of the building blocks as we look to build a strong West Indies team.
“Lots of credit must also be given to Coach Gibson and the entire management staff, who are all contributing to the development of a strong http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Team,” he added.
The Windies, floundering consistently near the bottom of the ICC’s rankings, had long been considered the underdogs of international cricket, with their poor form combining with behind-the-scenes politics to form a bad mix. The sudden retirements of experienced
players, in addition to the board’s differences with valuable players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RR-Sarwan-c2371, further weakened an already struggling side.
However following a complete overhaul of the team and management, the Windies’ have been on a steady upward climb. 2010 saw http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 bowling coach to join the Windies’ set-up as their head coach in January. Later in the year

Armed with a completely new set-up, the Windies set about the process of building and developing the new team, and the results have finally begun to show.
Following their competitive showing against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in March/April this year (which saw them drawing both the ODI and T20 series against their visitors), and a brief slump in the shape of a dismal tour of England during May/June (which saw them going winless
throughout), the Windies’ finally managed to end their losing streak during http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s tour of the United States and the West Indies.
Their last ODI series win against top-level opposition (with the exception of victories against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747) had come in 2009, whereas their previous Test series victory had been in 2008-09. However, Sammy’s men finally managed to end the drought,
going on the claim a 4-1 ODI series win against the Kiwis, before sweeping the Test series 2-0.
