West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo says self-confidence helped him to improve his game
Rookie West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo has said that his self-confidence played a key role in his development as a successful bowler.
“My self-confidence helped me a lot from World Cup up to now,” said Bishoo who made his international debut in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2011.
“This is just the starting point of my career and I am enjoying my cricket. Everybody is a normal cricketer and that's the way I go about thinking about it. I just back myself and do whatever I do best,” he added further.
Bishoo returned with figures of 4 for 17 against Pakistan as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482.
Talking about the game strategy, the 25-year-old Guyana leg-spinner said that he was focused on containing the batsmen. He further added that he kept on varying his pace as much as possible and that helped him in containing the batsmen
as well as claiming wickets.
Talking about the batsmen he dismissed on Thursday, the left-hander said that all the wickets were equally important and big for him. He said that he always backs himself to do well against every batsman and this approach helps him
in attaining the desired results.
The Twenty20 match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 was Bishoo’s first-ever international game at home and he hoped to go on and become a great cricketer for the two-time world champions, West Indies.
“This is a great feeling,” said Bishoo. “It was good to play the way we did and give the supporters something to celebrate. It worked out well today and we are looking forward to the ODI series.”
The Guyana-born spinner, who made his international debut against England recently, has so far played three One Day Internationals picking up 4 wickets. From 21 first-class games, he has claimed 86 scalps with career best figures of
6 for 64.
