http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 replaces Smith with Brathwaite for 2nd Test
Team West Indies has dropped the opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kraigg-Brathwaite-c71708, in the 13-man squad. The 2nd and last Test match will start from today, May 20 at Warner Park. The Windies
lead the series 1-0.
This is the only change the Caribbean have made in their squad after the first Test.
Smith had been somewhat off-coloured during the ODI series and in the Test game too. In his seven innings of the series, he fell to the Pakistani part time spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898.
The 18-year-old, Brathwaite, will open the innings now. Having made his first-class debut at the age of just 16, the batsman soon got a place in the Caribbean squad for a Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in 2009.
Brathwaite poses to be a proxy of the brash Caribbean batsman, Shivnarive Chanderpaul.
The brilliant young cricketer finished up the Under-19 World Cup 2010 as the top scorer of Team West Indies.
In the Guyana Test, West Indies defeated Pakistan by 40 runs on the fourth day of the match.
West Indies has won a Test after 17-defeat streak. The team last won a Test game in February 2009.
On the other hand, the Men in Green have perpetuated their losing legacy as they have never won any Test series on the Caribbean soil.
Before the start of the series, the analysts were enchanting that it was going to be a lucky chance for Pakistani to make history by winning as Team West Indies was deprived of some senior players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221. But the Caribbean displayed marvellous
performance.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has won the 5-match ODI series 3-2.
Some cricket experts are criticizing the skipper, Darren Sammy’s strategy to sack http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 for the sake of an inexperienced batsman. They argue that this decision may weaken the Windies’ batting department.
On the other hand, the triumphant Sammy is quite confident that Brathwaite will go a long way to deliver match-winning performances in the Test.
Team Pakistan is going to play this match without any change in the squad.
