West Indies should start to translate talent into performance, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Isaac-Vivian-Alexander-Richards-c64548 – Cricket News Update
Sir Vivian Richards, the legendary West Indies cricketer, is happy with the progress of the Caribbean team but believes that the boys must start to fulfil their potential to produce results.
The men from the Caribbean ruled the world of cricket for almost two decades, in 1970s and 1980s. But since the last one and a half decade, West Indies have struggled to make an impression in international sport.
However, their performance has started to improve in recent times, with the introduction of some very talented young cricketers. In the last 12 months, West Indies have given tough times to some of the world’s leading teams like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Richards, who is considered to be one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the game, feels that the islanders have shown improvement recently and now it is about time they translate their talent into performance and win matches.
“Having watched West Indies since I stopped playing I have often questioned whether we had what it takes to get back to the top. That question still remains but there has been progress. Now we have to prove we can win,” Richards said while talking to Dailymail.
Sammy and company are currently in England where they lost the Test series 0-2 but came up with spirited performances in all the three matches. However, the real strength of the West Indian team lies in the shorter formats of the game and one expects the
visitors to taste success in the limited-overs portion of the tour.
The former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 also struggled in the previous two decades but now they are the number one ranked Test team of the world. Richards urged the young West Indian team to take a leaf out of England’s book, if they want to
regain the lost heights of the Caribbean cricket.
He believes, “We can’t just look at West Indies in 2012 and say ‘they’re giving it their best shot’. We need more than that. England were searching for a long time to discover what they’ve found now and we have to do the same.”
