West Indies tour of England: Sunil Narine hoping for a Test debut – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869, the 24-year-old cricketer from Trinidad, is dreaming of a Test debut against England in the third and final Test of the series to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham from Thursday, June 7.
The West Indies have already lost the three matches Test series 2-0, and will be playing for pride in the final Test. Narine is eager to play in the match and help the Caribbean contingent get back to winning ways.
“I would like to play in the last Test and try to help West Indies pull one back but even if I don't, I won't be too despondent. I don't want to get ahead of myself and make any predictions. I just want to prepare well, mentally
and physically, and give my all for West Indies,” stated Narine.
Having played eight One-Day Internationals for the West Indies, Narine, who is an off-spin bowler, is yet to earn a Test cap.
The off-spinner, who originally opted out of the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and the Test series against England to take part in the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL), was surprised when out of the blue he was summoned into
the Test side by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board (WICB).
"I wasn't expecting this at all. I came back home and I was starting to look ahead to the limited-overs series (in England)," he said. "When I got the call for the Test series...words can't explain how I felt at that moment. The
dream was always to play Test cricket and I'm halfway there."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758, the right-arm pacer, picked up a shin injury which ruled him out from the remaining tour. The speedster was the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies and his departure depleted the tourists' bowling options.
WICB picked Narine as the replacement, after the 24-year-old was named as the Player of the Tournament in the recently concluded IPL.
Narine inspired Kolkata Knight Riders to their maiden IPL trophy and bagged 24 wickets in the process. The off-spinner will be hoping to continue the dream run, however, this is the first time he is playing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and needs
to adapt to conditions quickly.
