West Indies v Australia – 1st Test (Day 5) – Match Recap – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 win by 3 wickets
The visiting Australians secured a 3-wicket win in first Test of the ongoing 3-match Frank http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Day 5 culminated with the tourists besting their Caribbean hosts on
April 11.
The last day saw the host team resuming from their overnight score of 71 for 5, leading by 114 runs, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CS-Baugh-c1293 at the crease. The Windies had suffered a psychological set-back near the end of day 4, as the Aussie pacers had
ripped through their top-order, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379 (32) courtesy

With only 5 wickets remaining, Deonarine and Baugh began the last day with plenty of responsibility on their shoulders, but the former managed to add just one run more to his 20-run tally before he was dismissed by Harris, lbw.
Faltering under the growing pressure, the Windies were unable to find any inspiration in the innings of captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558, although he did manage to establish a 31-run 7-wicket partnership
with Baugh (23). The wicketkeeper soon followed the captain to the pavilion in the 53rd over, courtesy Hilfenhaus, and the Windies found themselves at 116 for 8.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758 was the only tail-ender who managed to make a sizeable contribution to the total, scoring 25 and establishing a 10th wicket 23-run partnership with Devendra Bishoo (7), which enabled the hosts to post a total of 148 before they were
all out at the end of 67 overs. Harris took 3 wickets, while Hilfenhaus bagged an impressive four-wicket haul, followed by Siddle (2) and Watson (1).
Chasing 192 runs to win, the tourists opened their innings with a sizeable 31-run opening stand between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan (34), which came to an abrupt end with Warner’s dismissal at the hands of Sammy in the 11th over. Watson pitched
in with a substantial 52, and his 75-run partnership with Cowan propelled their side easily to 106 by the 30th over.
Deonarine proved particularly deadly for the Aussie batsmen, but his 4-wicket haul was not enough to restrict the tourists. After sending http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 back to the pavilion in the 30th over, Cowan was dismissed when he was caught at midwicket by Chanderpaul
off Deonarine.
Ponting, after a 14-run contribution, became the 28-year-old’s next victim in the 36th over, and the off-spinner rounded his performance off with the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 (6), who was caught and bowled in the 38th over. However,
the damage had already been done, and with the visitors at 140 for 5, it took the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 (18) – both of whom were later dismissed by Kemar Roach – along with Harris (4) and Hilfenhaus (2), to get the team to 192 within
48 overs.
Harris was awarded the Player of the Match, and the Aussies, with their sights set on a series win away from home in addition to a boost in their Test team ranking, began the extended overs leg of their tour with an emphatic win.
The second Test of the series is scheduled for April 15 at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
